MONZA - IITALIA - The Team Pro Ride Superbike signed the contract for the 2009 season with the Spanish rider Gregorio Lavilla on the last November the 8th at the Marchesini stand at the EICMA Show in Milan. The event also saw a great presentation of Lavilla in the Moto Live track, where the public could closely see him riding the CBR 1000 RR that the staff managed by the Eng. Marco Nicotari assembled for the Superbike World Championship.
The Tuscanian team is now planning the winter calendar. The tests will be in January, at the Spanish circuit of Almerìa and right after in Portimao, Portugal (official World Superbike test).
PORTIMÃO – PORTUGAL – The Team Pro Ride World Superbike started its official activities today at the circuit of Portimão with the Spanish rider Gregorio Lavilla. It was a very productive day, since Lavilla gave to the Team many important references, constituting a valuable material to work during the winter tests.
There were positive and negative points to think about, but at the overall everybody is excited about the beginning of this new project. Lavilla’s best lap time today were 1.45.5, and this was considered a consistent start, due to the track conditions and the fact that it was his first time on the Pro Ride Honda Fireblade.
The next steps are the special event at the EICMA show, next November the 8th and the tests planned for January (to be confirmed).
Gregorio Lavilla: “Today was the first day of tests with the new Team, in the morning the track was a bit wet, but little by little we saw the things we have to improve and also the positive ones. I think it was important and positive to make this test today and we have ahead a couple of months to work on the bikes and make them ready and well. From January on there are so much to be done, but there are the strong spirit and the will from both the Team and I, and only like this we can move on.”
PORTIMÃO - PORTUGAL - As communicated at the Magny-Cours round, the Team Alto Evolution Honda Superbike has been sold and will become Pro Ride Superbike for the next season of the World Superbike Championship. Following this there will be a demonstration ride outside the exhibition centre, showcasing our new team, along with another team from MotoGp .
Pro Ride Superbike, under the management of the Eng. Marco Nicotari, will take part in the 2009 Championship with the Spanish rider Gregorio Lavilla. Both team and rider are very excited and looking forward to this fresh start.
Actually, 2009 starts to us next Tuesday (November the 4th): we are staying in Portimao, where it was the last round of 2008 season, for the first test with Lavilla. The intention is to work hard on the bike, overhauling it and changing riding position on Monday, as well as confirming settings and strategies for the practice sessions on Tuesday. We expect to be able to come away from Portimao with a solid test result to back up our confidence for next season.
Pro Ride Superbikes cordially invites the world press to both events, EICMA and Portimão testing, and welcomes the opportunity to answer any questions at this time. As usual, Thatiana Moure is the communications manager and first point of contact (
